Job Title: Software Engineer
Location: Remote (US-based)
About Us:
Truvolv is a rapidly scaling digital marketing agency with a unique approach to website development and management. We leverage proprietary technology to efficiently create and update websites for our members, enabling us to offer fast and highly customizable solutions. As we grow, we're committed to continually improving our products and services to provide the best experience for our clients.
Position Overview:
We are looking for a mid-level Software Engineer to help build, maintain, and scale the platform and internal tooling that powers Truvolv. You'll split your time between strengthening our existing member-facing products and building net-new tools including proprietary internal automations that make our own teams more efficient. This role is for someone who can take a loosely defined problem, figure out the right approach, and drive it to done with minimal hand-holding, while writing code that the rest of the team can build on. You'll work primarily in Next.js, React, Node, MongoDB, and TypeScript, with exposure to Terraform and GitHub Actions as we invest further in infrastructure-as-code and CI/CD.
Key Responsibilities:
- Own feature delivery end-to-end, from design through release, for existing product enhancements, custom member requests and net-new products.
- Design and build internal tools and automations (in addition to member-facing engineering work) that improve how Truvolv's own teams operate.
- Write clean, maintainable code that follows existing patterns and conventions, and knows when a deviation is actually warranted.
- Write tests for your own features and maintain strong coverage as you build, including integration tests where needed, and ensure changes meet performance and accessibility standards before shipping.
- Investigate ambiguous or loosely scoped problems, propose a direction, and drive it forward independently.
- Review code for junior and associate engineers, providing feedback that raises the technical bar and helps them grow.
- Write and maintain documentation that makes your work reproducible and maintainable by others by creating plans of execution, not just after-the-fact notes.
- Communicate clearly with both highly technical and non-technical stakeholders, adjusting depth and framing to the audience.
- Recognize when a problem is more complex or higher-risk than initially scoped, and flag it early rather than pushing through alone.
- Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure-as-code practices (GitHub Actions, Terraform) as we mature our engineering operations.
- Participate in sprint planning, standups, and technical design discussions, contributing a real point of view. Not just executing tickets.
Qualifications:
- 3+ years of professional software engineering experience.
- Strong hands-on experience with Next.js, React, Node.js, MongoDB, and TypeScript.
- Familiarity with Terraform and GitHub Actions, or strong ability to ramp up quickly.
- Demonstrated ability to operate autonomously on net-new work. You can take a blank slate and build something solid.
- Proven experience delivering features end-to-end with minimal oversight.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical tradeoffs to a range of audiences.
- Solid judgment on when to flag scope, complexity, or risk rather than quietly absorbing it.
- Comfortable working in an existing, established codebase. Coding to match patterns already in place rather than reinventing them.
Nice to Have Traits:
- Experience conducting code reviews for junior and/or associate-level engineers.
- A track record of writing documentation others actually use that is clear enough to hand off and rebuild from.
- Comfort operating in ambiguity, with the initiative to bring structure to a fuzzy problem.
- Interest in internal tooling and process automation, not just customer-facing product work.
- Strong culture fit which means collaborative, low-ego, and genuinely invested in the team's success.
- Experience contributing to or maintaining CI/CD pipelines.
What We Offer:
- Competitive salary with opportunities for advancement
- Comprehensive health insurance coverage
- Unlimited paid time off (PTO) to promote work-life balance
- Remote work flexibility, allowing you to work from anywhere in the US
- Exciting opportunities for professional growth and development in a fast-paced startup environment
- Mentorship and growth opportunities as you develop your software engineering skills.
- An exciting work environment at a rapidly growing company with cutting-edge technology.
